Philipp Markolin, born and raised in Austria, is a Switzerland-based science communicator and writer. He holds a Bachelor degree in Chemistry and a Master degree in biochemistry from the Technical University of Graz, Austria and a doctorate degree in translational biomedicine from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.

After a postdoctoral position as a bioinformatic analyst in a machine learning lab, he decided to apply his hybrid background to understand viral phenomena in our modern information ecosystems, and how they shape discourse and public perceptions of science and society.

He currently works in the life-science industry.
